A cordless jigsaw cuts curves, cut-outs and sink openings without dragging a cable across the worktop, and this collection holds battery jigsaws from Bosch, Dewalt, Makita, Hikoki, Festool and Einhell. It suits kitchen fitters, shopfitters, site carpenters and home users who already own a battery platform.
Choosing a cordless jigsaw
- Battery platform. Stay on the packs you own. The Bosch Professional Cordless Jigsaw GST 183-Li runs on Bosch 18V, the Dewalt 18V Cordless Brushless Jigsaw DCS334NT on Dewalt 18V, and the Makita 18v Cordless Jigsaw DJV181ZJ on Makita 18V.
- Grip style. Top-handle saws like the Hikoki 18v Cordless Jig Saw CJ18DA Basic are the familiar shape. Barrel-grip saws such as the Festool Cordless pendulum jigsaw CARVEX PSC 420 EB-Basic sit lower for better control on curves.
- Voltage and power. The Hikoki 36v Cordless Jig Saw CJ36DA Basic and Makita 40V XGT Cordless Brushless Jigsaw JV002GZ push through thick hardwood and steel plate faster. The Bosch Professional Cordless Jigsaw GST 12V-70 is the compact choice for thin board and trim.
- Kit or bare. The Einhell Cordless Jig Saw TC-JS 18 Li (1x2,5 Ah) arrives with a battery, while the Einhell Professional Cordless Jig Saw TP-JST 18/135 Li BL - Solo and most pro-brand saws come bare.
Bare tool or kit?
A bare jigsaw is the sensible buy if you already own two batteries and a charger on that platform, because a jigsaw draws power in short bursts and one pack goes a long way. Most of these saws take standard T-shank blades, so see jigsaw blades for wood, metal and laminate options, batteries for extra packs, and jigsaws for the corded range.
These saws are in stock at Power Tool Services in Claremont, Cape Town, with nationwide courier delivery. Our staff use cordless jigsaws daily in the workshop and can advise on platform, grip and blade choice.
