Cordless drill batteries and power tool batteries wear out long before the tool does, and a second pack is the single biggest upgrade for any cordless kit. This hub holds replacement batteries, starter kits and twin packs from Makita, Dewalt, Bosch Professional, Einhell and Metabo in 12V, 18V and 54V, for tradespeople and home workshops.
Choosing a power tool battery
- Match the brand and voltage. Batteries are not interchangeable between brands. A Makita 18V tool takes a Makita 18V pack such as the Makita 18V 5.0Ah Lithium Ion Battery BL1850B; a Dewalt tool takes the Dewalt 18V 5.0Ah Xr Lithium-Ion Battery DCB184-XJ.
- Capacity. Amp-hours set run time. A 2.0 Ah to 4.0 Ah pack keeps a drill light. Saws, grinders and rotary hammers want 5.0 Ah and up, such as the Metabo Lihd Battery Pack 18 V - 10.0 Ah.
- Battery only or starter kit. If you own a solo tool without a charger, a kit such as the Einhell 18V 4,0Ah PXC Starter Kit or the Bosch Professional Battery Starter Kit 4.0ah includes one.
- High-voltage platforms. The Dewalt Flexvolt 54V Xr 9Ah Battery DCB547-XJ powers 54V tools and still fits 18V Dewalt tools.
Cordless drill battery replacement
Check the model number on your old pack and match the voltage and platform exactly. Lithium-ion packs lose capacity gradually, so a replacement will often feel like a new drill. Buy the same or a higher amp-hour rating; a bigger pack adds weight but never harms the tool. Keep packs out of the sun, and store them part-charged if you will not use them for months.
All batteries here are in stock at our Claremont, Cape Town shop and ship nationwide by courier. Our staff run these platforms daily and can confirm which pack fits your tool.
