Spirit levels from Bosch Professional, Stabila, Stanley, Swanson and Festool, from a pocket-sized magnetic level to a 120 cm box level. These are the levels builders, tilers, shopfitters and cabinet makers keep on site, with milled or machined bases and vials you can read in poor light. Every level here is sold on its own, not as part of a kit.
Choosing a spirit level
- Length: 25 cm for plugs, switches and small fixings; 60 cm for door frames, shelving and tiling; 120 cm for walls, long runs of cabinets and screeds. The Stabila T96-2 is available in several lengths.
- Box or I-beam: a box-section level (Bosch Spirit Box, Stabila T96-2) is stiffer and takes more knocks than a flat I-beam profile.
- Magnetic spirit level: the Bosch PRO 25 cm magnetic level and Swanson magnetic post level hold themselves on steel posts, studs and conduit, which frees a hand.
- Vials: look for a plumb vial as well as the horizontal one, and a 45-degree vial if you do a lot of bracing.
Stabila spirit level or Bosch Professional?
Stabila is the benchmark on building sites: a rigid aluminium profile, vials cast into the frame, and the same accuracy whichever way you flip it. Bosch Professional levels cost less and are more than accurate enough for carpentry and tiling. Spirit level prices here run from the Swanson post level up to the Festool level, so you can buy to suit the work. If you need a digital or electronic level, phone us before you order.
