Choosing drill bits
- Metal. Bosch HSS PointTeq and Alpen HSS Super for mild steel; Bosch HSS-Co cobalt bits for stainless; Festool HSS Centrotec bits for the Festool drill system; Bosch step drills for sheet metal.
- Wood. Alpen and Bosch brad point bits leave a clean entry hole. Festool CE/W bits from 3mm to 10mm fit Centrotec chucks. Milescraft 5mm shelf pin bits and the EuroHingeBit are for cabinet hardware.
- Masonry and concrete. Alpen Long Life and Bosch CYL masonry bits for hammer drills; Bosch SDS plus-1, SDS plus-3, SDS max and Makita TCT SDS max bits for rotary hammers; Alpen Profi Multicut and Bosch EXPERT CYL-9 and HEX-9 for mixed materials.
- Tile and core. Bosch CYL-9 Ceramic and HardCeramics bits for porcelain, Tork Craft diamond core bits for tiles, TCT hollow core bits and Bosch core cutters for larger openings.
- Locks. Souber mortice bits fit the Souber lock mortice jig.
