Choosing a cordless heat gun
- Battery platform. Buy the gun that runs on the batteries you already own. The Dewalt 18V XR Cordless Heat Gun DCE530N-XJ shares packs with Dewalt 18V drills, and the Bosch Professional Cordless Heat Gun GHG 18V-50 fits the Bosch Professional 18V system.
- Temperature settings. The Einhell Hot Air Gun 350/550 Degrees Solo 18V TE-HA 18 Li switches between two heat levels, which is enough for most shrink tubing and adhesive work.
- Bare or kit. Most cordless heat guns are sold as bare tools without battery or charger. The Makita 18v Cordless Heat Gun DHG180Z is one example, so budget for a pack if you are new to the brand.
- Nozzles. Check which reflector and reduction nozzles come in the box.
Cordless or corded heat gun?
A cordless gun is lighter to carry and ready in seconds, but a battery will not hold out for long stripping sessions at full heat. Models marked Solo, Bare or with an N in the code ship without a battery. Add a pack from our batteries range if you do not already own one.
