A circular saw guide rail turns a hand-held saw into a straight, splinter-free cutting machine for sheet goods, doors and worktops. This collection holds guide rails and edge guides from Festool, Makita, Metabo, Kreg and Milescraft for track saw owners and for anyone who wants cleaner cuts from a standard circular saw.
Choosing a guide rail
- Match the saw. Track saws run on their own rail profile. The Makita Sp6000 Rail 1.4M fits Makita plunge saws. The Festool Guide Rail Fs 1400/2 and Festool Guide rail FS 1400/2-KP fit Festool saws and routers.
- Length. A 1400 mm rail crosscuts a full sheet width. For ripping a full 2440 mm sheet, choose the Festool Guide rail FS 1900/2-KP or join two rails. The Festool Guide rail FS 800/2 is handy for short cuts and cabinet panels.
- Standard circular saws. The Kreg Rip-Cut Circular Saw Edge Guide for Ripping clamps to most circular saws for repeat rips. The Milescraft Guide Rails give a clamp-on straight edge for any saw or router.
- Cross-cutting. The Festool Cross-cutting guide rail FSK 420 and FSK 670 have a fixed fence for square cuts on timber and narrow boards.
Do guide rails fit any circular saw
No. A guide rail only works with a saw whose base is machined to ride the rail's ridge, which is why track saws come as a system. A standard circular saw needs an edge guide or a clamp-on straight edge instead; the Kreg Rip-Cut and Milescraft rails do this job. The Metabo Guide Rail Fs 160 suits Metabo saws built for it. If you are unsure, tell us your saw model and we will confirm which rail runs with it.
