Choosing a cutting torch
- Complete cutting torch: the Matweld black-handle and brass-handle torches are one-piece units ready for nozzles and hoses. Pick these for a dedicated cutting setup.
- Modular handle and attachments: a torch handle or shank with a cutting attachment, mixer and heating lance covers cutting, welding and heating from one handle. The 915mm heating lance and high-capacity mixer suit bending and pre-heating.
- Gas: standard torches run on oxy-acetylene; the LPG torch handle and economiser version is for oxy-LPG heating and cutting where acetylene is not on hand.
- Circle cutting: the circle-cut attachment clamps to the torch for consistent radius cuts in plate.
- Gouging: K4 and K5 carbon arc gouging torches for removing weld metal and back-gouging.
Flashback arrestors and gas cutting safety
Fit torch-mount flashback arrestors on both the oxygen and acetylene lines. A flashback travelling back into a hose or regulator is one of the main risks in gas cutting, and the arrestors are cheap next to what they protect.
