Makita chargers for 18V LXT and 40V XGT batteries, from the standard DC18RC to dual-port rapid chargers, in-car chargers and the PDC01 backpack power supply. Every charger here is genuine Makita, which matters because the charger's cooling fan and battery communication are what protect the cells.
Choosing a Makita charger
- Makita 18V charger: the DC18RC is the standard rapid charger supplied in most LXT kits. The DC18RD dual-port rapid charger charges two 18V batteries at once, which is the practical choice for 36V (18V x 2) tools.
- Makita 40V charger: XGT batteries need an XGT charger. The DC40RA is the single-port rapid charger; the DC40RB is the dual-port version for crews running several 40V tools.
- In-vehicle charging: the DC18SE and DC18SJ run off a 12V vehicle socket so batteries charge between sites.
- Power on the move: the PDC01 backpack holds LXT batteries and feeds 18V or 36V tools for extended run time. The ADP05 adapter turns an 18V battery into a USB power bank for phones and lights.
Makita DC18RC vs DC18RD
The DC18RC charges one battery at a time and is all most users need. If you run two-battery tools such as the 36V chainsaws, lawnmowers or the DLS mitre saws, the DC18RD keeps both packs ready without juggling. Neither charger works on 40V XGT; keep the platforms separate. See Makita batteries, the Makita 18V LXT range and Makita 40V XGT tools.
