DeWalt 12V Max tools are the compact end of the DeWalt cordless range: a drill driver, impact driver, screwdriver and reciprocating saw built around a small 12V battery that fits in a tool bag or on a belt. Power Tool Services stocks the 12V Max platform for electricians, kitchen fitters, shopfitters and maintenance crews who work overhead or inside cabinets all day. Where an 18V XR drill is too long or too heavy, this is the alternative.
Choosing DeWalt 12V Max tools
- Drill driver: the DCD706 kit comes with two batteries and a charger for drilling and fixing in timber, board and light steel. The DCD710 is the earlier model in a kit box.
- Impact driver: the DCF801N compact impact driver drives long screws and coach bolts far faster than a drill. It is sold here as a bare tool, so you need a battery and charger.
- Screwdriver: the DCF601N is a 1/4 inch hex screwdriver for cabinet hardware and electrical work where an impact driver would strip the fixing.
- Reciprocating saw: the DCS312N brushless compact recip saw is one-handed and suits plumbers and electricians cutting pipe, conduit and stud.
- Bare or kit: N and NT suffix models are bare tools; D2 kits include two batteries and a charger.
DeWalt 12V battery and charger
The DCB124 3.0Ah battery is the standard pack for the platform. DeWalt's 12V to 18V multi-voltage chargers, including the DCB1104, charge both 12V Max and 18V XR batteries on one unit, so a mixed fleet needs only one charger on the bench. For the full 18V and 54V ranges see DeWalt cordless; batteries and chargers for every voltage are under DeWalt batteries and DeWalt chargers.
