Milescraft JointMaster Metric 1384

I have been after a Milescraft Jointmate Pro for a while, but they have been out of stock since forever - this was launched recently and I figured that there is nothing else that's half decent in this price bracket that isn't made of plastic and 900 bucks spent at PTS is a safer bet than twice that on Banggood and maybe your item arrives or maybe it doesn't (true story - I was eventually refunded, but I waited three months for a doweling jig that was never shipped).

The build quality is sturdy and the sleeves/guides are very accurately machined to accommodate the appropriate size forstner bit without any slop or binding. Tip: buy the Alpen forstner bits from this store when you buy the jig - they're great.

The jig clamps into place securely and doesn't move during operation (sharp bits help, especially on end grain).

My only criticism of the jig would be that it lacks a micro adjustment feature - you can remedy this by using gauges or setup bars to align the center of the sleeves with your piece's mating surfaces; the aligment is locked in with a screw on either side of the three sleeves which is probbaly not an issue if you're only using one and the same sleeve each time, but if you're using two or all three, the alignment needs to be perfect. This is not enough of an issue for me to knock off one star, just something to be mindful of.

This is the best inexpensive doweling jig by far and I can highly recommend it.
