If you're looking for a professional metal off-cut saw, this one is definitely NOT it. Don't waste your time or your money.
This machine has obviously been designed by someone sitting behind a screen who has never, and will never use it nor test it, in its entire miserable lifetime.
Firstly, the lazer line: pathetically poor that you can't even see it. Bosch and this designer, stupidly assumed that every single one of these machines will be used in a pitch dark workshop and will never get to see the light of day. If you ever use this machine outside and in an are where there is sunlight, you will not be able to use the lazer. Totally pointless and badly designed.
Secondly, the backstop: (with its pathetically poor plastic handle and weak locking screw. This part is useless! Another pathetic design with an equally bad locking mechanism that will (hopefully) hold the backstop at the required angle for cutting - it doesn't. The plastic handle gets in the way of the backstop, so you can't tighten it down. If you do get to tighten it down, the plastic handle is so weak, it strips off and the backstop moves around to whatever angle it feels like.
Thirdly: The screw clamp with its ridiculous pivoting mechanism that supposedly should lock the screw thread in place.
Whatever you do, DON'T expect this thing to clamp down properly when you're wanting to cut a 45 degree angle - as you tighten up, it moves the material further along and its almost impossible to get the material and blade to line up where you want it to cut.
The little black pivot mechanism ontop of the thread screw is absolutely rubbish - even small metal sizes like 25 x 25 square tubing it battles to clamp, jumping up as soon as you think you have it ready for cutting. You have to hold the material, hold this clamp, and turn the handle all at the same time to clamp the material.
And....here's your reward for spending so much money on what you think is a top quality "professional" machine - sometimes the clamping mechanism comes loose while you're cutting, blade grabs it, shears off its teeth and throws the material at you. Then, nobody wants to repair the blade or replace its teeth because, seeing as its a Bosch blade, its not available locally and costs a fortune to replace.
I've wanted to smash the head in of whoever designed this machine and whats left of the machine I've wanted to force up the CEO's nostrils in front of his entire workforce, MANY times!
Designed by an absolute brain dead fool and NEVER field tested. Not even once.
