Makita cordless tools on the 18V LXT platform, from drills and impact drivers to plunge saws, nibblers, biscuit joiners and garden tools. Power Tool Services stocks over 60 Makita cordless machines, almost all as bare Solo units, so you add them to the batteries and charger you already own. This is the range for contractors, cabinet shops and serious home workshops that have standardised on Makita.
Choosing Makita cordless tools
- Brushed or brushless: brushless models (DHP485, DTD153, DGA456, DHS680, DJV182) run longer per charge and hold speed under load. Brushed tools such as the DHP453 and DGA452 cost less and are fine for intermittent use.
- 18V or 18V x2: twin-battery 36V tools (DHS710 circular saw, DSP600 plunge saw, DUC302 chainsaw, DUB362 blower, DGA900 230mm grinder, DHR263 rotary hammer) deliver corded-class power from the same LXT batteries.
- Solo or kit: Solo is the bare tool. Kits add batteries, charger and a case, for example the DHP485ZJ kit and the DHR202ZK 5.0Ah kit.
- Specialist tools: DRT50 laminate trimmer, DPJ180 biscuit joiner, DKP180 planer, DST221 stapler, DCG180 caulking gun, DGD800 die grinder, DJN161 nibbler and DWR180 ratchet wrench.
Makita 18V LXT batteries and the 40V XGT line
Every tool here takes the standard LXT slide battery in 3.0Ah, 5.0Ah or 6.0Ah, charged on the DC18RC or the dual-port DC18RD. See Makita 18V LXT for batteries, chargers and the full platform, or Makita batteries on their own. Makita's newer 40V max XGT tools use a different battery and are listed separately under Makita 40V XGT.
