Reciprocating saw blades (sabre saw blades, or Sawzall blades if you learnt on the American name) decide what the saw can cut: wood with nails, steel pipe, stainless, plastic, pallets and even aerated concrete block. This collection carries the Bosch Professional and EXPERT range and Makita reciprosaw blades, from 85mm to 300mm, in packs of 2, 5 and 20.
Choosing reciprocating saw blades
- Blade material. HCS (high-carbon steel) blades such as the Bosch S 644 D and S 1531 L are for clean, fast cuts in wood only. BIM (bi-metal) blades like the S 922 BF, S 1122 BF and S 3456 XF handle wood with nails, metal and multi-material demolition. Carbide-tipped EXPERT blades (CHM, EHM and XHM codes) cut thick steel and stainless, the HM blades cut aerated concrete, and all of them outlast bi-metal many times over.
- Length. 150mm blades suit general work and tight spaces; 225mm and 300mm demolition blades reach through walls and floors and cut larger pipe.
- Thickness. 1.6mm demolition blades (S 930 CF, S 1130 CF, S 610 VF) stay straight under heavy use; 0.9mm to 1.25mm blades cut faster with a finer kerf.
- Shank. All these blades use the universal ½" shank and fit Bosch, Makita, DeWalt, Metabo, Hikoki, Einhell and Festool reciprocating saws.
Metal cutting reciprocating blades
For steel the thickness decides the blade: PRO Thin Metal for sheet and profiles, Medium-Thick Metal precise S 937 and S 1137 BEF for pipe and bar, Thick Metal S 1137 HBF and S 1237 HBF for solid stock, and the EXPERT Endurance for Heavy Metal and Stainless Steel carbide blades when bi-metal gives up. Find the machines in cordless reciprocating saws, and matching jigsaw blades and multi tool blades for finer work.
