Choosing a cordless drill
The first decision is battery platform: an 18V drill gives more torque and runtime for drilling and driving into timber, brick and steel, while a 12V drill is lighter and better suited to overhead work or confined spaces. Look for a hammer action if you'll be drilling into masonry or concrete regularly, since a standard drill/driver alone will struggle. Brushless motors last longer and run cooler than brushed ones, and a higher amp-hour battery means fewer charging stops on a full day of work. Also check whether the drill shares a battery platform with other cordless tools you already own, since buying into one platform saves on spare batteries.
