A pocket hole jig is the quickest way to build strong, hidden screw joints in cabinets, frames and furniture without specialist joinery. Choosing a pocket hole jig
- Occasional use: the Kreg 310 or R3 and Milescraft PocketJig 100ST or 200ST clamp directly to the workpiece and go anywhere.
- Regular furniture builds: the Kreg 320 set or 520 PRO add a clamping handle and adjustable guides for repeat drilling.
- Workshop station: the Kreg 720 and 720 PRO have automatic material thickness adjustment, dust collection and a docking station option. The Milescraft PocketJig 400 Professional and Bora automatic jig fill the same role.
- Material thickness: standard jigs handle roughly 12 to 38mm. The Kreg Micro-Pocket guides suit thin stock, and the XL and HD jigs are for 38mm and thicker timber in decking and outdoor frames.
Kreg jig accessories and pocket hole screws
Keep a spare Easy-Set drill bit, the right face clamp and the correct screw length and thread for the job. Coarse thread for softwood and ply, fine thread for hardwood, and Blue-Kote or stainless for outdoor work. Plug cutters hide the holes on visible faces.
